Toyota Motor Corp launches Prius c

Toyota Wednesday said it has launched the smaller and more affordable version of its popular hybrid, the Prius c, the news reports said. The small and affordable version car is targeted at young crowd who will definitely buy it for themselves.

The new smaller version of Prius will go on sale in March. It will be smaller, lighter and more nimble than previous versions, the reports said.

The subcompact hatchback also will be priced under $19,000. The ‘c’ stands for city. Jim Lentz, Toyota’s top U.S. sales executive, said, “The c is a gateway vehicle and a key part of its Prius strategy.”

The Prius has been designed specially keeping in mind the young generation of buyers who thought that this smaller version was out of their financial limits.

The Prius c is 19.1 inches shorter than the traditional Prius and 542 pounds lighter. It will be available in four trim levels.

The standard features of Prius c include automatic climate control, tilt-telescopic steering wheel with audio, climate, information display, Bluetooth controls and also remote keyless entry with illuminated entry.

“The smaller version of hybrid will have a mileage of 53 mpg (22.5 kpl) in the city and 46 mpg on the highway for a combined rating  of 50 mpg (21 kpl),” the global automaker said.
