The Nifty in India is testing the 5500 mark, the index touched high of 5504 in the intra-day trades but soon slipped from the high level. The S&P CNX Nifty was higher by 12 points at 5493 and the Sensex was higher by 43 points at 18,317.
Jaiprakash Associates was the top gainer among the Sensex stocks the stock was trading higher by 4.13% to Rs 88. Apart from this, Tata Steel was also trading higher by almost 3% at Rs 634. Jindal Steel, Larsen & Toubro, Bajaj Auto, Hindustan Unilever, State Bank of India, TCS and ITC were also in the same league. In addition to this, HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindalco, Tata Motors, HDFC Bank, Cipla, Wipro and Maruti Suzuki were among the top losers.
The BSE Realty index was the top gainer on the sectoral front - the index was higher by 1.7% at 2148, Metal index was higher by 174 points 15,935. Consumer Durable and Capital Goods indices were also trading higher by 0.83% each. Healthcare, IT, Oil & Gas, Teck Bankex and PSU stocks also witnessed some buying. Auto stocks were reeling under the selling pressure.
Among the realty stocks, Unitech was the top gainer – it was trading higher by 7% to Rs 37. Parsvanath Developers, Mahindra Lifespace, DB Realty, Orbit Corp, HDIL, Phoenix Mills and Ackruti City were also trading higher by 1.5-5% each.
The broader markets also traded higher, BSE mid-cap index was up 30 points at 6730 and the small-cap index was higher by 83 points at 8247.
